For this assignment, I had a lot of ideas and realized that I had too many, so I stuck with one specific thing that brings me joy, fishing. Since I was lucky enough to grow up in a city right by the water, I spent a lot of time fishing. The peacefulness and connection with nature are what give me so much joy when doing it. I was introduced to fly fishing freshman year because of my roommate's love for it and it really got me even more interested in fishing. Fly fishing is an experience like no other, you’re standing in the middle of a creek or stream miles into the woods working to catch a trout or bass fish. To me being surrounded by nature is what brings me joy and being able to fish while doing that just increases my happiness. My goal for the shoot was to capture fly fishing from different angles and perspectives along with getting some close-up shots of the gear and flies.
