For my photo essay, the original idea was to document Maryland’s car culture. Unfortunately, I caught the Flu and couldn’t document what I wanted. Instead, I revisited a project I shot a month ago. My best friend had been training for a marathon for over 8 months. He was supposed to run in the Marine Corp. Marathon but sadly it was canceled last minute. He decided to run alone since he trained so hard, and his family set up a crazy course throughout our hometown. I wanted to document the whole experience for him, so I followed along the whole route and captured the journey. My goal was to get a few different angles but really capture the emotions during the journey. The first photo is a photo from the end of the race but I placed it there on purpose and that’s to set a reminder that the journey is well worth the reward.
